Ferdinand Magellan Award

October 13, 2010 10:04PM avatar
This is not exactly ng. or steam, but when the UP took over the SP and negotiated a consolidation of crew bases, a lot of crews began operating over lines they had never seen before. Theoretically they were supposed to get qualified, but like all bureaucracies things fell between the cracks and what evolved was the Ferdinand Magellan Award for the engineer that got the farthest on track he had never seen before. If you don't know who Ferd was, go google.
