Our son used to work for our local member of congress, answering, among other things, constituents' mail.
The best way to get their attention is a short, one page, reasoned note, preferably. Email is worthless! Telephone calls are discounted as too easy to make.
Making an effort, which snail mail requires, shows you care!
Don't threaten, don't yell. Be calm and positive!
Note the reply you get: if signed in colored ink, the recipient actually saw your letter! But don't be discouraged -- they get tons of mail so much is handled, of necessity, by staff.
And remember: too many people running for office want to cut taxes, not spend money on boondoggles like an old train. When you vote, remember that.
