In 1967 I couldn't get the folks to make another trip over Cumbres even though the 498 and 484 were going that way. Nor could I get them to stay out in the field further than Dulce chasing the 487. So these comments ring true. The great unwashed just don't appreciate trains! LOL!
I am very happy that I was able to see what I saw back then on the first days of freight ops for 1967 - it sustained me for the next three years while I did my Navy duty - but it was also the last time I went anywhere that trains were running with family!
Oh, and I was amused by BrianJ's comments. The D&RGW practice looks "odd?" Excuse me but that's the prototype!
