All good info. One more thing- the distance between mile posts may not be exactly one mile. In fact, for some reason frequently it isn't. I learned that early in my career doing take-offs for repair estimates. Stationing is probably pretty precise, depending on how long ago it was done. When we could, we usually did our own stationing before we performed any estimates for repair costs. Sometimes you'll find a notation like "STA. 510+56 back = STA. 510+80 ahead" which means they probably changed the track alignment and lost or gained x feet of track. Love reading val sheets. Ned
