To even suggest internal combustion in the context of what the CATS is doing is, and I say this in the full intended meaning, heresy. With the funding(100k,likely much more) that it would take to buy/locate/modify/transport a Diesel capable of doing them any good, much progress could be made on making the existing steam power already there quite reliable.
The whole point of CATS is narrow guage STEAM.
