LOBATO TRESTLE Information
The railroad commission ( Chairman J. Leonard (Lenny) Martinez) insisted a load test for the bridge be put out for bid. That was done and the bids are due in sometime next week so I am GUESSING the winning bidder will be chosen the week of 26th thru the 30th. I am being told one of the most important things that will be looked at is availablilty to get started. In other words price will not be the only thing being looked at.
Until this is done and since the decision for the RFP was made, progress on Lobato Trestle is in the hands of the Railroad Commission - NOT in the hands of the management company. John & Marvin have companies lined up to supply the materials that they will need to get to work on the trestle. They have companies lined up if a repair is needed and companies lined up if a replacement is needed.
Bottom Line: Until the load test has been completed and reviewed, the railroad still does not know if the trestle is repairable or it will need to be replaced.
IMHO: Like most of you I wish this process wouldn't take so long but I do understand the commission has to be very careful and the management company has to wait on the commission. Every one I know that is involved with the railroad is also frustrated with the waiting.
Crisis Management: IMHO since the fire, I have been impressed with how the management company has handled this crisis. All I can do is speak for myself, but anything I have asked for they came thru immediately and they always remind me that they are waiting for my call if I need them to do something.
When I get more information I will post it.
