Re: Image request

When I took my photo in 1967, the phone lines were still active and very much a part of a working railroad. The section crew had been out that same day repairing downed poles along the track headed east out of town a couple of miles. When they cut the poles down in Silverton to the south of the depot some years ago, it was because of hang gliders who viewed them as a safety hazard as they came in for a landing, but I felt it was one more piece we were losing of the total picture. Next it will be flowers being planted around the depot. Durango's landscaped depot is lovely, but so historically incorrect to be a real shame, but maybe truth in historical accuracy is inconvenient and doesn't play to the run of the mill tourist.
