Hello, again -
I spent the night in my car a few miles east of Seligman at the bridge where Old Route 66 crosses over the railroad. Before succumbing to the temptation of the delicious (and HUGE) biscuits & gravy at West Side Lilo's Café, the BNSF took priority. Here's sunrise, with the San Francisco Peaks in the distance

In the short and shallow canyon just east of Seligman I encountered one of the most mixed-up collections of motive power I have EVER seen

While waiting for the lunch crowd – and I mean CROWD – to thin out at El Palacio in Kingman (a Mexican restaurant second on my list only to the long lamented and much missed Kelly's Café in Chama), I explored the back roads southwest of town by following 4th Street across the tracks from El Palacio and down into the canyon along what little is left of REALLY OLD Route 66. After lunch I returned to the canyon and ventured up a VERY rough and steep dirt road which gave access to the top of a cactus-crowned mesa
