Thanks Dick and Craig -
Please note also that Narrow Gauge Country is beginning to resemble the 'Auto Center Drive'
that has begun appearing in several towns - out here in SoCal, anyway - where most of the auto
dealerships are located close to one another. Conversations with D&S and C&TS mid-level staff,
and posts by SL&RG (Alamosa), D&RG (South Fork) and LC&S (Leadville) employees indicate an
increased interest in coordinating special-event schedules so as to make a long trip to the Rockies
for trips on both the NG and SG tourist railways worthwhile for visitors from Europe, Japan & "Down
Under", as well as from Canada and the farther reaches of the U.S. - See "Rocky Mountain Railroad
Madness at [

I agree that the fortuitous situation where both the 60th Anniversary of #489's "Season in Green" and the 40th Anniversary of the C&TS's 'First Train into Chama' fall within a few months of each other will make 2010 a special year, but there is no reason that the cooperation, excitement and positive energy that this is creating cannot be carried into the future for the long-term benefit of tourist railways from Denver to Durango to Santa Fe - and all points in between.

p.s. Note that I have intentionally not included Williams, AZ. The GCRy's misleading advertising and excessive use of diseasels would disqualify it from consideration even if its distance from The Rockies did not.
