Silverton Northern Opening Its Lines
Last Sunday, the Silverton Northern Railroad began the work of opening their various lines that have been closed since early in Janaury. A big ditcher belonging to the D&RG was used for the work. Tuesday evening they reached Eureka after removing the remaining portions of two heavy slides, one just this side of Howardsville, and the other close to the Hamlet mill. Wednesday, the work of clearing out a large slide on the Cunningham branch was commenced. This required only a couple of days. Shipments from the Shenandoah will be resumed immediately from the Cunnigham branch terminal at the Green Mountain mill.
