IIRC, the mayor of ~~Ostrich~~ Silver Plume is related somehow to the mayor of Creede,
and both of them are sore afraid that an influx of artists, foamers & flatland touristers
attracted by the railroad will lead to a shortage of bubble gum and rubber tomahawks
for the locals.

Or maybe they're afraid that if there is a resurgence of steam on the railroad that Jeff and Skip will move back to town ...
