Will be returning to Colorado later this year for another holiday, we start of with a couple of days in Denver, have done most of the tourist things on previous trips, looking at the Amtrak timetable and it appears that one could do a day trip thru Moffatt Tunnel to either Winter Park or Granby, can anyone shed any light on whether this is doable.
1) which would be the better location to spend the few hours between trains at, can one go further along the line before the cross. We will also be driving out to the East Portal so would like train info for then, it would be nice to see a train come thru there.
2) how many freight trains go thru the tunnel during that day time.
3) Granby lists a Moffat Road Railroad Museum, but googling shows that as still under construction, any updates, is it worth the trip at this stage.
Thanks in advance.
