Re: Mighty tasty Marmots

Did you hear the story about the Marmot that crossed the NG tracks? That was just to keep this on topic.
Some years ago I stopped at some friends house one evening who were noted for butchering a fresh road kill deer once in a while (illegal in Ore.). My friends wife asked if I wanted some Irish Marmot. I was hungry so had a bowl of this very tasty stew which had Guiness beer as an ingredient. I didn't take the Marmot aspect seriously till I got to the bottom of my bowl and found the back bone. Marmots are vegetarians, so probably are ok in general to eat. Not sure if they ever carry anything bad disease wise. Around here they tend to dwell in rocky banks along highways and seem to get hit pretty frequently. At the same household I have eaten cougar. Tasted like Marmot.....
