CHS did not actually purchase the Porter from the Huckleberry Ry. When SVRR learned that the 1203 was available we determined to procure it for our own use. The price was the cost of a pair of large jacks, ($7500) for which the Porter could be traded. SVRR did not have the money at that time so I furnished it and held a lean against the locomotive. The deal with CHS was made after the 1203 was traded for but before it was moved to Baker City. The idea that SVRR could make money from the deal did not pan out, but at least an historic locomotive was returned to operation, and the lean I held was satisfied.
