Some month ago I read a thick history of the WW2 German invasion of Russia, and then a book on Panzer warfare by the German general Heinz Guderian. A short time later I was googling for something related, and found a Wikipedia entry on the subject that was amazingly thorough, accurate and well written.

Wikipedia at its best can be a great resource, the problem as already noted is it is inconsistent and particularly vulnerable on controversial subjects and issues.
