Hi,
The multi gauge track reminded me of the Glover Machine Shop in Marietta. I visited it around 1990 (snooping around the outside) and some workers came out for a smoke break. The escorted us in and and saw the facility. Even though no locomotive had been erected and shipped since 1930, all the rails were there. If I recall correctly, there were 5 set up at 24", meter, 30", 36" and 56.5". Too bad the building was taken by emminent domain and razed c 1997 for a highway overpass.
As I recall, the Glover Machine shop (in Marietta since the 1850s) was dissolved and a new Glover company was created and located in Albany, GA some 200-odd miles away.
When I toured the facility, there were three (3) locomotives still inside. two 0-4-0t's and a 2-6-2. The 2-6-2 was restored and on display in Marietta. The two incomplete 0-4-0t's are in the same building as the General (Civil War Fame) in Kennesaw, GA and has a good rendition of a machine shop from the early 1900's with the two 0-4-0t's displayed as being worked on.
The 2-6-2 is 36" gauge, one of the 0-4-0t's is 36" gauge and the other was (I think) 30" gauge.
Even after some 70+ years, all patterns (not always usable) and plans and documents from Glover were turned over to the museum.
