Good thing you listened Russco. Hey in the book "the thunder of their passing Carl Jack said......... "I had a fireman name of Stanley Smith... on engine 483 and we left Chama at 8:00. We picked up a bunch of stuff that had been sitting at Sublette for years. That was December 6, 1968; the last train over the narrow gauge track. We didn't know it when we left Antonito the day before."--Carl Jack, Engineer. Carl and Stanley took 483 as helper to Cumbres then ran light to Chama. After staying the night there they returned to Alamosa with two cabooses, three cars of coal. They dropped 483 fire and Carl Jack and Stanley Smith booked off that night.
