Hi, Herb -

The color variations MAY depend - at least to some extent - on whether a car was painted
with left-over paint from the D&RGW days or with a more recent non-mineral-pigment paint.
If the latter, how long ago? Which brand of paint? All my slides from the late sixties show a
fairly consistent reddish brown or brownish red similar to the Floquil Boxcar Red or Tuscan
Red that I used on my H-O models before discovering 12"/foot scale. Older cars look a bit
more faded or stained - some of them to dark gray - but none look purplish or pinkish.
(See [ngdiscussion.net].)
