I'm not sure they can get closer with the lettering without the right stencils, and it's sure not that bad... only nitpickers (like me) would notice this.

As for the color, doesn't the paint fade towards the red end as the paint ages? I've been told that the Grande's boxcar red is a really brownish color, but after a couple of years of the sun at high altitude, who's to say?
