You can not operate a THREE rail turntable for other than a transfer without turning. Russ got close to it when he said that once you turn the turntable 180 degrees, the right side ng is now the left side ng.
You can not operate through the mis-alligned rails as the wheel pressure from the engine would move the table, or turn a rail out.
All gauges on a turntable must be centered if the table has one center bearing that does not shiff.
You can use a off-centered-track-turntable as a transfer table but not to turn the equipment. Not too much reason to have a turntable in that case. Just use a switch.
