The work train ran out of Alamosa but did not go past Toltec per Ernie Robart. The 483 went from Alamosa to Durango in late August on the last series of revenue freight trains. Eldon Morgan was the engineer to Chama, Don Gibbs engineer to Durango.
It later went to Farmington with Gibbs again at the throttle. It was the last trip to Farmington. Jim Mayer was conductor.
In September it was ``made up'' for movie work, studio crews for ``The Good Guys and the Bad Guys'' working along side studio crews for ``Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.'' Andy Payne has slides of this work.
Ken Faucette was the D&RGW engineer assigned to ``The Good Guys...'' per Andy Payne. I do not know if he also took the movie train to and from Chama.
The National Park Service officials rode the entire Durango-Alamosa segment. (Some got off at Antonito) taking two days to do it. Andy Payne was engineer out of Durango, Steve Connor engineer out of Chama.
