Problems with using 19. It was not designed for road service, but yard work. The traction motors will not take the heat of pulling the train up a long grade. What we were told last year was that 19 was only good for 3 cars on the east end. Two cars and a spreader, you are there. 19 is in need of a complete rebuilding. Prime movers, wiring, electronics all need replacing or rebuilding. Right now 19 is running on only one engine. The best bet would be to purchase a 70 ton engine, John West told us that the price on the available 70's is way too high. If you want to run the train, put your money where your mouth is. And add in enough for added track work and inspections, additional crews for car and engine maintenance, a station agent, advertising and so on. A check for $200,000 should get this project started.
