"How did the water service and B&B crews get around?
Keith"
My guess would be water service personnel probably drove to the various sites. If this was not possible then rode a train or motor car. For the most part they did not need to spend extended periods at any given site. Of course, when required to do so living quarters were provided, such as outfit cars. I need to do a little follow up on this.
B&B gangs had a set of outfit cars that were used for living quarters and storage of material and equipment. When working at outlying areas, in this case away from Alamosa, these outfit cars would be spotted at the station nearest the work site. Motor cars along with push cars would be used to get men, material, and equipment to and from the work site. Of course when larger material was involved a train, or work train, would be used for necessary loading or unloading.
There should have been a permanently assigned B&B gang located at Alamosa. During this posting period for 1944, there were 3 B&B gangs at work. One was at Alamosa with foreman Dorsey, one at Gunnison with foreman McKenzie and one at Gato with foreman Robinson.
