Hart's mention of Wilmunder's station in Camino prompted me to dig through the slide collection as I didn't recall seeing much other than a small shed like structure where tickets were sold. Hal did make it into Camino but was cut short at the first crossing of a street as Hart related, and on the other end, the county wouldn't let him cross their road that abuted his shop facility, so he was stuck with a very short line that was also short on scenery and anything interesting to see. For some reason, my first rides on narrow gauge railroads involve some excitement as the #14, in my picture, had set a grass fire on the way into Camino, and it wasn't discovered until we headed back to the other end of the line. The local fire department was called and a number of passengers assisted in putting out the fire and then the trip resumed. This was August 15, 1966.
My first ride on the Georgetown Loop ended in an accident as the caboose snagged a line on the high tension power line that snapped a power pole and pulled the lines down into the train and a wedding party that was on board. I recently found out from Lindsey Ashby that he was on board the caboose of that train when this happened. So far, the rides on the D&S have been uneventful.
