Luckily a lot of us that worked there were young and "free". My wife worked as the ticket agent and I was on the train crew. Living in the refer was really quite nice. We opened up the doors and had lots of light. During the evenings, we closed it up and stayed nice and warm. Remember...the evenings are cool at that altitude. Mike had a nice warm house to stay at in Georgetown. JP lived in the area and Rick lived in the depot....with no plaster on the walls, dirt, dust and chipmunks. It was perfect for him! Roy Breffel was full time locomotive engineer and stayed in a motel during the week. He lived in Denver. My little family included me, my wife, my DAUGHTER, one cat and one dog. I married early and life was very good...still is!
