I would have to say any time beetween 1881 / 1930 I love the older styles of lettering the variety of non standardized equipment such as headlights,locomotives being converted from narrow to standard gauge,new discoveries in the mountains and before 1930 it seems to me things were kept much better and cleaner.The stock market changed all that and thank the mighty steam engine god the affect of the current crash does not seem to be digging so deep.I think people are more inclined to like the later era because it is what was photographed most commonly.Please don't think for a minute that I don't like the flying Rio Grande era as well,, 4 K class locomotives on a stock train must have been some site.8 C class locomotives shoving a wedge plow or a rotary must have been quite the show as well!!!!!!!!
