Another note on saw-bys: retired engineer andy Payne said that pipe trains frequently sawed by at Arboles. He said it was easier when each train was a double header. Then the helper could cut off and move the segment of the opposing train.
It is called saw-by because of the back-and-forth motion of the trains, like a saw cutting a board.
