That summer of 1963, I roomed in a place that was kitty corner across the street from the Durango depot when I was working there...Seems like it was the old Linmor Hotel, or something like that...on the corner. It was handy anyway...just a single room on the second floor on Main street right over the BAR!..The john was "down the hall", etc. That saloon got noisy there too, on occasion.

But it was a cheap place to live..
The building is no longer there...this was before the "Rio Grande Land"
and all the "fixing up" that was done there in subsequent years spoiled the original character of those places....

I ate in the chink joint up the street mostly on the same or east side...I don't remember what it was called....for a while, but quit when they got busted for catching alley cats and serving them as chicken or rabbit....
