operator because he learned from other operators instead of a book. Then in describing injuries from the explosion he speaks of "molten metal".
As for the white stack plume, I haven't seen the pictures but that could also indicate a clean fire. Then from the crown sheet being "the protective covering over the firebox",
you can see that there is a definite lack of
knowledge about how steam works.
But then a lot of them know that people don't know much about steam. That's why I love the one from the little blonde newscaster who explained to her listeners that "before we started burning fossil fuel most of our power was provided by steam".
