As I pointed our earlier, and Roy seconded, Lamy is a good spot. The old Santa Fe Depot is a throwback with the mission style. The town is tiny(understatement), and there is a bar restaurant across fromt the depot called the Legal Tender. The Santa Fe Southern owns the old branch line to Santa Fe and usually runs one train a day to Lamy, but doesn't make an Amtrak Connection. It might be a consideration for a train ride though for you although it is diesel. They sometimes operate a dinner train of sorts. Trains depart the Santa Fe Depot in Santa Fe. Some trips haul freight, making it a mixed train, as they make freight connections with BNSF at Lamy. Santa Fe is maybe a 30 minute drive from Lamy...not far!
