Reminds me of the Lathrop story about one of the 450's on Marshall pass that was supposed to be a notorious poor steamer. The story goes on to tell about one time when they were in the hole waiting for a meet, got bored, and started dumping trackside junk down the stack to pass the time. They were supposedly expecting the debris to come flying out of the stack when the engineer opened the throttle. As the story goes, they continued onward after the meet, and were astonished when the pops on the 450 opened up. He claimed it went from being and "old soak" to one of the best steamers on the pass. Don't know if its true, but it makes an entertaining story.......
