Some current (as of this past weekend) road conditions:
1. The road into Osier is the best I've ever seen it. This past weekend there was some kind of "Trail Rider" event at Sublette Heights; hopefully they don't stay long as there were some BIG motor homes going in there at very slow speeds.
2. The road along the tracks out of Antonito got beat up a bit from the movie crews. We didn't want to get in the middle of that so we didn't go all the way to the trestle. If it ever rains, look for a lot of mud.
3. Between the crossing at MP 290 and Big Horn we saw no signs indicating we shouldn't be on those roads. We used Google Earth to help find our way which showed some interesting markings; we did see some signs for "TP101" and "TP102".
4. The sun angle at Lava Tank isn't very good for the regular train; the photo below was of the Geology Train which was there at 9am.
5. There is AT&T cell service around lava tank!
6. If is possible to keep up with the regular train out there, but just barely.
