I recall visiting there in 1970 as the UP branch. Mom and Dad chose to spend the night in Waldon.
We came from West Yellowstone and visited Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons (love the French).
We rented two rooms at a Hotel (not meaning Motel). No climate control. Communal bath room. Mom and my Sister started out in the one room that was next to a Drive-in with the kids carousing until after 1:30AM. Dad and I were in the room across a very wide hall on the other side of the building. We left the doors and windows open to get a breeze to try to keep the temperatures livable. Mosquitoes were awful.
At 1:30AM, I was awakened (after about 2 hours of sleep) and we skedatled out of town as fast as possible. We turned in early the next day somewhere around Salida or Pueblo.
A very memorable visit and I've never had any inclination to return.
