I'm afraid I've got to side with Mike and the rest here, this is just too important an event to ignore. As he said, we are a community of friends here and there is a need to discuss things - to vent. Where things will end up will be determined in the days, or, unfortunately, perhaps months ahead. And I think it likely that many will
never be satisfied with the final outcome. But that is the future. You do have a good point though, if we are able to get on with our lives we deny the bastards the satisfaction of disrupting things in the US any more than they already have.
In that light, I bring up the question of how (or if) this will help Amtrack receive further funding? As I recall, continued funding for Amtrack was to be debated this fall. To me anyway, it seems likely that there will be an increase in interest in non-air travel which could postpone the demise of rail travel in the US.
