I am working on an On3 D&RGW T-12 to do it as #169 in the early 1930's and have a
couple of questions-- First, does anyone know what kind of firebox doors these
locomotives had in later years? The PFM On3 model has a simple firedoor as the
locomotive probably had when built. However, since all the other D&RGW C-series
engines seemed to have received the economy clamshell doors by this time, is it
reasonable to assume that the T-12's received the same economy clamshell
firedoors? Does anyone have any firm information on this? Also, does anyone
know what sort of firedoor is on #168 and #169 at present?
Second question-- Is there someone I can contact to arrange to get inside the
169 enclosure at Alamosa to do some detail photographing? I am particularly
interested in the area between the #2 and #3 drivers, showing the firebox, frame
and brakes. Also would like to get photos of the top of the running boards and
pilot deck. Any help or suggestions will be most appreciated. Thanks.
