Chriss:
You got the story pretty much correct. The real issue was one of indoor storage which NJMT had been providing for quite some time up to that point, and still is today. Such space was at a premium. The FEBT purchase and move expenses of the Colorado cars had us wondering, and perhaps a little insulted, about why such funds were not used for the NJMT car. Couple that with little to no contact between the two organizations over a long period of time and you can see why the action was taken.
As the NJMT board chairman at the time, I'm probably the one who came across as the hard ass, but it was a board vote/decision to take the action based on the above items. I left the board and the organization the summer of 2004 so really have no idea what became of the issue.
It probably all comes down to communications. I've noticed with leases that once a lease is signed very often there is little to no follow up.
