If you have Google Earth set up on your computer, enter the location Hacienda Casa Grande, Peru. You will see the sugar refinery on the east side of the town and the various truck haul roads with their wide radius curves (very railroad like).
I read a description some place on the internet of the Casa Grande plantation. The writer indicated the plantation was one of the largest and most profitable operations until it was nationalized; then it went downhill.
In 2007 the British published book "Railways of Peru: Volume 1 -The Northern Lines" by Robert D. Whetham came out. It was published by Trackside Publications of North Yorkshire. It has five pages of photos of the Casa Grande operation. Rosters by Americans P..A. Copeland and John A. Kirchner (Copeland says they tried to contribute more detailed rosters in the style we are used to seeing, but the publisher did not want that kind of roster).
Volume 2 for the southern Lines has recently been published and I have ordered it from a London bookseller.
