The word I get from here in from Chama is STILL: No telling if it will run or not. Engine availability is the number one unknown. Right now the staff have enough to worry about, keeping 4 engines under steam, and getting the trains out and back safely and on time every day.
As you may be aware, the Governor of New Mexico has effectivley tied up around $1.7 million in funding. While that supposedly does not affect this year's operations, it certainly seems to affect how money is budgeted this year.
When you know you know that you are not going to have any money next winter, you start pinching pennies this summer.
A freight special in September is way down on the priority list.
