Actually the last tri-weekly season was 1953. In 1954,
after Perlman left, the service went first to 4 times a week (from 7/15 Sun, Wed, Fri, Sat) and then 5 times (from 8/2 add Mon).
From 1955 on sevice was daily (ok, it was still tri-weekly during June and after Labor Day)

The Silverton cars (215, 280, 306 & 320) had been painted Grande Gold since 1950. The rest of the passenger stock, including the former San Juan cars, went yellow in '55 (126, 284, 312, 319, 323, 327 & Alamosa)
With the "Rio Grande Land" scheme (1963) came new cars (330, 331, 400, 401) and in 1964 more new cars (332-337) and the two yellow boxes (3219, 3468) with more open car (402-405) added thru '67. All of the new cars
were yellow from day 1.
