The whaleback tender wouldn't lend itself to a good riding tender because of my control system. Also the drawing I have doesn't have a whaleback tender, it more closely resembles what I have modeled. Another point being, I don't care for the appearance of a whaleback tender. The more conventenal tender was to my liking. Again, part of it's character.
The #1 may have acquired a number of different tenders throughout it's lifespan. I have NOT modeled #1 exclusively, I have modeled my version of that engine. I had no intentions of building an exact replica, just a scale facsimile.
As I stated, I took a lot of liberties and personalized this engine to my liking, an engine that perhaps has been backshopped so many times it is barely recognizable. One of a kind....as it were. Definately not for rivet counters.
The caboose I'm building will be the same, it will have character, and fit well with all that surrounds it. Sort of a in scale "Walt Disney" approach, or "imagineering" if you will. In my own small way.
