The Crown engines built to 15' gauge (14",16")
were equipped with manual brakes working on the drivers. There were no brakes on the cars. The 24" had air brakes on the engine and cars powered by a chain driven air compressor mounted between the engine frames. The 36' equipment had air brakes on the engine and cars powered by a steam driven compressor mounted on the fireman's side.
All of this raises a question. At one time an owner took his 15" Crown engine to England and
operated it on a line out of Romney(?). Has anyone
else taken one of these park engines on a similar trip? Jim
