As I mentioned in a previous post, the Q&TL #6 will be moving home to Michigan, probably this fall if all goes according to plan. I am sure it will be well taken care of my the QMHA, the current owner of the #6 and Quincy snowplow.
If interested in assisting I would suggest you send me a private email and I will pass it on to the QMHA folks who are working the effort. My email is
jrmay@monmouth.com
It was here on lease which expired several years ago but was extended for a short time which has also expired.
As to being outdoors, the #6 has been outside for a majority of its years here in NJ. Its been outside and unprotected for the past 4 years. I'm not sure which is worse, the damp, salt air and acid rain of NJ or the snows of Michigan. But I am sure it will be cared for once it is home. The other engines on the Hill are also receiving much needed attention and there are plans to restore the engine house. Again, I would suggest interested parties support this effort.
As to the source of this information, I've been in the middle of this transfer working with QMHA, appraisers, and the previous equipment owner.
