The QMHA has a good track record for preservation and have been addressing the fate of the two engines sitting up on the Hill. In fact some restoration work has been ongoing for a couple of years now and I am sure they could use some help. Much of the work is done in Ohio and other locations with parts then brought back for installation since the working season in the area is so short. So don't let distance from the area deter you if interested in helping. If you send me a pm at
jrmay@monmouth.com I can get you in touch with the right people.
The QMHA is also quite good with the grant process and are currently addressing the fate of the old stone engine house. Ultimately I see all the engines returning to the engine house.
As to being stored outdoors when it gets home, the goal is indoor storage. Keep in mind though that for the last 4+ years the Quincy #6 has been stored outside by Pine Creek.
