Scott, you have summed up my feelings to a "T." This argument between historians and operators, preservationists and pragmatists will continue until the end of the age and those who get their knickers in a knot over something someone else posts about them on an open board and decides to take their football and go home probably shouldn't post here anyway.

Someone is always going to step on our toes. Ouch. Move on.

As far as silver trim is concerned, I have seen it go on and winced. They guys and gals wielding the brushes are too young to remember what they should look like! But I have the sure knowledge that bituminous coal will soon consume it with soot and ash. No big deal 'cause you won't see it for long.
