Speaking as a rider on the 315 Photo Special, I have to agree with everyone's comments. It looked to be a good idea to have everything in Silverton at once - 315, Goose 5, 473, speeders, 2 scheduled trains. But it pushed capacity to beyond the limit, and the Photo Special suffered, with only 2 runbys. Also I heard numerous comments about the lack of an open car on the Photo Special. Anyone who has ridden the Silverton knows that its difficult to see or shoot much from an aisle coach seat. I rode behind the 315 to have another opportunity to experience it, but I must admit I found the C&TS runs to be more enjoyable. I plan to ride 315 and other specials again, but I hope that this year's experiences will be considered.
But I did get a lot of good shots. Here we see the brakeman releasing the brakes in Siverton, prior to turning and departure.
