The Cole Ranch subdivision situation that is in dispute over county claimed ownership of the SN right-of-way may go to court. I can't comment because I'm the chairman of the Planning Commission. We did have them reserve the right-of-way througn the subdivision to keep anything from being built on it, but the current activity is a separate action. The Cole Ranch is immediately next to the Eureka townsite. Past Eureka is out of the question today just as it was in 1906, it's just that they were a lot more stubborn or optimistic than we are today, and the Jeep road is more important economically. Between Silverton and Eureka, there is not much problem, though some private land and federal access issues. In the past, the county commissioners have been very much in favor of rebuilding the line certainly to Howardsville, and on to Eureka. Might be a fun place to run some shays as well.
