The Coal dock at Alamosa could be serviced by cars of either gauge.
As for the Sargents dock, remaining a dock and not a tower--no idea, but many moons ago while doing an eastbound trip over Marshall pass, had the good luck to meet up with an old engineer on top of the pass, he became our "tour guide", one the the stories he told was on Eastbound trips out of Gunnison you could "fly" down the valley to Sargents, take on water , hop over the hill and scoot for home at Salida, He stated that the only time he used the coal dock at Sargents was before the big engines arrived, (the K-28's and beyond) he also used the dock while in helper service. He kept saying that you always used lots more water then coal.
