I've heard that railfans clocked the "sports model" K28s at 60 mph. I would imagine the others went slower as the K28s were specifically designed for passenger service. Seeing those drive cranks turn at those speeds must be spectacular, that's all I've got to say.
Also, a guy on another forum said he knew someone who had run the 463 (at the C&TS), and said the fastest he had ever clocked her at was 23 mph, but the K27s were probably capable of considerably more than that.
