If the 50 somthing yearolds are the young guys I guess my friends and I in are 20s are just babies.
I do help keep some Colorado NG running at Knotts. But living in California I don't get out to Ng country as much as I'd like to. If I lived it Colorado I would be able to help with 315 in durango, the geese and 346,and the 20 in Golden or even #5 in Dolores.
Ive been a railfan all my short life and was bittin by the NG bug only about a year and a half ago. And already Iv been to railfes, rode goose 5, saw 315 run, rode the train to silverton, visited Ridrway and saw goose #1, Ive seen 278 and 268, Black canyon, Cimarron, over cerro summit through Montrose and Ouray. And I still needed more NG so I got a job at knotts. know I have throttle time in the engineer seat of RGS 41, D&RGW 340, and pedal time in goose #3. Im going to see chama in October, and for next year I'm planning to go explore the RGS ROW.
IMHO you should be thinking more about us "babies" because in ten years the "young guys" will be saying the say thing you are. The more you get us Really young guys involved and teach us what you know the better we can ensure the future of our beloved Narrow Gauge equipment.
P.S.Throttling 340 and 41 is fun, but as you guys can imagine I would love to more than anything take the to the C&T or D&S and run them up the hill, or double head with 315 or the 20!
