Before you tee off on bikers of any stripe for supposedly causing undesired results concerning railroad property, perhaps you had better zero in closer on those hated fences and the cause for their being erected. I believe that, if you were to ask railroad officials, you'd find that "railfans" were the cause of these fences (and other restrictions) being put into place on railroad property. Why? because of theft (builders plates, number boards etc.), careless and stupid behavior ( crawling onto/under rolling stock to get the perfect picture), and ignorant attitudes towards rules and symbols of authotity.I know, most of the railfan community is composed of considerate people who go out of their way to do the proper thing. Unfortunately, it is the few morons in the group who have,by their actions, caused our freedoms to be curtailed by the railroads.

One example - a few years ago a "railfan" was at CP Agincourt Yard in Toronto and wanted a shot of a diesel. It wasn't placed perfectly so he decided to move it a few feet to get it into the proper light. He was unaware that it had been blue-flagged and there were personnel working under it.The security that was put into force after that episode was as good as the current border watches or better!!
